Lots of things you HOUSE MUSIC lovers may have questions about. What you can/can't bring to the park and what you can/can't do while you're partying with us. We hope the following answers some of your conundrums.
Cost
How much are tickets?
There are no tickets because House in the Park is FREE! However we count on our friends and family for support. Please make a donation and ensure this cultural treasure remains!
Location & Time
Where is the event this year?
We're back at Perkerson Park for another great year of the best in House Music and family fun!
Perkerson Park - Pavilion Area
770 Deckner Ave SW
Atlanta, GA 30310
What time do you start?
As always we go from 12Noon-8:00PM. Don't try to be fashionably late, or you won't get the best picnic spot! Each year our crowd grows bigger and arrives early to claim a grill and the best vantage point of the main action of the day – near the pavilion.
Grills
Can I bring my own grill to the park?
Yes you can. Please be considerate of the Park. Last year, we had quite a few renegade folks to abandoned grills and smoldering coals in the park.
Where can I BBQ?
There are plenty of fixed grills provided for your convenience, in a covered area in the park. Be advised - its first come, first served! So, come early to stake claim to a grill.
Parking
Where can I park?
You can park at the gravel lot at the top of the hill, at the end of the main road that leads into Perkerson Park. Also you can park along ONE side of the main road.
This year HITP has arranged with Rice Memorial Presbyterian Church located at 1515 Brewer Blvd SW Atlanta, GA 30310-4621 (the intersection of Deckner + Brewer right before Sylvan Rd) for additional parking.
Where should I avoid parking?
Be a good community steward and DO NOT park in front of a neighbor’s driveway blocking them in.
DO NOT park in front of any no parking/tow signs. Last year a few people had their cars towed.
DO NOT park where you see reserved parking/permit parking only signs.
Meeting Friends/Family/Groups
I'm meeting up with a group. How do I find my folks in the park?
Lucky for you, this year we have an info booth. Your mobile phone reception might be limited in Perkerson Park, so we've talked to most of the big groups that plan to meet at HITP. Your group will probably check in with us at the Info Booth near the pavilion. We'll let you know where they've set-up.
Not sure your group is that organized, to let us know your meeting at the Park?
If you're unsure if your group has let us know that you'll meet at the park – give us a call the day before and we'll let you know. Then instruct your first member to arrive to stop by the Info Booth near the pavilion to check in. We can direct your people to where you've set up.
Alcoholic Beverages
Can I bring alcoholic beverages to the park? (We will have a CASH bar at the park)
This is no laughing matter! Atlanta Police Dept. (APD) and the City of Atlanta Parks Dept. are very serious about the "open container law".
Please do not have open containers/open alcoholic beverages in your car. While in the park, have your alcoholic beverages in a cup. We'd hate for you to get hemmed up by APD.
You could avoid trouble all together by just buying your drinks at the bar we'll have in the pavilion. Each year we have a stocked bar with a great price point on drinks. Why worry about BYOB, we got you covered!
Keeping the Park Beautiful
Where are the trash cans?
There are plenty of trash cans throughout the park. HITP will bring in an additional 30-yard dumpster for you to toss your trash. Please clean up after yourself.
What can I put in the trash?
You can toss pretty much everything in the dumpster, except for the following:
- Hot coals
- Burning cigarette butts
- Sterno burner containers
- Lighters
- Matches
- Lighter fluid
Basically, don't toss anything that is used to build flames.
Clean-up your mess! Leave the park more beautiful, then when you found it!
Please do your part to be a good steward of this great community and take care of this park.
Pick-up your trash!! Don't leave your picnic items behind. There will be a 30-yard refuse dumpster available for dumping your trash.
